Description
Verdi will be in the spotlight twice in La Ciotat in spring 2026: a lecture, as a taster, and a prestigious concert.
Musicologist Hervé Deroeux invites you to an encounter with Giuseppe Verdi, the most popular of opera composers and one of the most prolific. Starting from the source, he will trace the musical, humanistic and political life of this musical genius, drawing on his memoirs and confessions, and bring the composer to life more vividly than ever through anecdotes little known to the general public.
But how can one discuss Verdi without presenting excerpts from his music? Notably in a live performance: the Citharista choir, conducted by Karine Verdu, will perform several excerpts from the operas Il Trovatore, Nabucco and Aida, as well as passages from the Requiem Mass.
