Description
Blending humour, slam poetry and storytelling, Tiébini, the Modern Griot, takes us on a journey where cultures meet, words make us laugh and stories bring us closer together.
What if our mothers’ words still had a great deal to teach us?
In Ma mère m’a dit un jour… (My mother once told me…), Tiébini, the Modern Griot, weaves together his traditional African upbringing and the French culture he is discovering. Anecdotes, observations of everyday life, poetry and stories intertwine in a one-man show that blends humour, slam poetry and storytelling.
Originally from Togo, this spoken-word artist draws on the griot tradition to tell the story of our times. He explores the passing down of traditions, intergenerational bonds, solidarity and cultural differences with a style that is by turns funny, sensitive and powerful.
An evening to laugh, be moved and share stories that resonate far beyond borders.
