Since 2005, Les Toiles du Large has been transforming old boat sails into everyday items: bags, accessories and decorative objects. Sails that, after many years at sea, are given a new lease of life! Come and visit the workshop and shop in the Old Port.
Whether it has been used in regattas, coastal sailing, or crossing a sea or an ocean, a sail carries a story.
By transforming this noble material, steeped in memories, Les Toiles du Large creates sturdy, endearing objects that inspire dreams and a sense of escape.
A delightful blend of ecology, solidarity and dreams.
The sails are recycled in Provence, in partnership with organisations providing work-based support.
Each piece, unique and robust, is the result of meticulous craftsmanship, yielding an elegant, original and high-quality product.
An ethical and socially responsible approach:
Since 2005, the manufacture of bags and accessories has been entrusted to two work-based support organisations (ESATs) in the Marseille region.
These organisations, commonly known as CATs, offer people with disabilities work-related activities and medical, social and educational support to promote their personal and social development.
An eco-friendly approach:
By repurposing end-of-life sails, Les Toiles du Large prevents further cluttering of waste disposal sites with non-recyclable material. Several thousand square metres of sails are processed each year. Over 95% of each sail collected is recycled.
Entirely produced in Provence, the processing of the sails minimises the carbon footprint associated with transport.
The materials used in the manufacture of the products are made in France or Europe.
So, choosing Les Toiles du Large means combining a spur-of-the-moment purchase with a responsible and socially conscious approach, which fits perfectly with the philosophy of sustainable development.
