Description

To mark European Heritage Days, the Orgues & Cinéma association is organising a weekend dedicated to exploring the musical and religious heritage of the Church of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption, situated in the old harbour of La Ciotat.
This year’s programme celebrates the F. Mader grand organ, the church’s iconic instrument, through a series of events combining music, heritage discovery and guided tours. On Saturday 19 September at 6.30 pm, a recital dedicated to the ‘Ave Maria’ and ‘Ave Maris Stella’ pieces will offer the chance to experience the grand organ in a programme performed by Ludovic Baudot, organist at La Ciotat, accompanied by Anne-Sophie Carrière, mezzo-soprano. The programme will include works by C. Franck, Arcadelt, Vierne, Handel, Caccini and Schubert, amongst others… On Sunday 20 September at 3.00 pm, Father Patrick will lead a guided tour of the Church of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption. This is an opportunity to learn more about the building and discover its religious and artistic heritage. On Sunday 20 September at 4.30 pm, there will be a four-handed organ concert featuring Chantal De Zeeuw, organist, and Jean-Marc Ansel, organist at La Ciotat. An original musical experience offering the chance to appreciate the full sonic richness of the grand F. Mader organ. These various events offer a wonderful opportunity to discover or rediscover the Church of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption and its grand organ, through a programme combining music, heritage and cultural transmission.
