The Friends of Old La Ciotat invite you to discover local life through more than 15,000 objects from their private collection. From the archaeology room, through the inventions of the cinematograph and Pétanque, to the economy of La Ciotadienne, traced around the Messageries Maritimes & CNC, you are offered a journey in the company of prestigious figures (poet, great navigator, etc.) who have lived through the centuries. Backed up by real-life scenes, traditional life (cultural, religious, agricultural and fishing) with its customs and traditions is transcribed in life-size.
The Ciotaden Museum, which has been awarded the "Musée de France" label, is housed in the Old Town Hall, a municipal property listed as a Historic Monument.
The Association, in partnership with the DRAC, the CD13 and the town of La Ciotat, brings these prestigious premises to life with temporary heritage-themed exhibitions, lectures, screenings and workshops.
