The Most Beautiful Bays in the World

On Friday 5 June 2026, nearly half a tonne of rubbish was collected from the Port of La Ciotat.

To mark the occasion, Year 6 pupils from the Sainte Anne Private School in La Ciotat got involved in sorting through some of this waste to give it a new lease of life through a work of art.

Here, a fisherman hauls up not fish, but rubbish, in his net. It is a powerful image that serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving our bay and protecting this natural heritage that is so precious to us.

To mark World Environment Day on Thursday 5 June 2025, the Port-Vieux in La Ciotat was cleaned up for the first time in nearly 20 years.

An exemplary community effort resulted in the removal of 1,270 kg of waste. Professional divers and volunteers joined forces to clean the seabed and sort the waste onshore, whilst an information stand raised public awareness of the issues surrounding marine pollution.

The Association’s Youth Committee has launched an international drawing competition in partnership with the Veolia Foundation.

In La Ciotat, pupils at the École de l’Abeille have put their creativity to good use in support of this wonderful initiative.
