PbbThe association currently comprises 42 bays in 20 countries, each representing a local authority with a seafront on an outstanding bay of the world’s coastline. There are 10 in France, including La Ciotat, which joined the association in 2019. The town submitted its application, highlighting the main assets of the Golfe d’Amour.
This is the name given to an indentation in the land that makes up a coastline. Generally, it forms an arc of a circle, but sometimes it can form an almost complete circle!
Adhering bays must meet certain conditions, such as:
– Be subject to protection measures;
– Have an interesting fauna and flora;
– Have remarkable and attractive natural areas;
– Be known and appreciated locally and nationally;
– Be emblematic for the local population;
– Have a certain economic potential.
