The world’s most beautiful bays | La Ciotat Tourist Office

A renowned association

The World’s Most Beautiful Bays Association is an international association founded in Vannes in 1997 by Bruno Bodard, Michel Met and Hervé Laigo. The decision to join was taken at a tourism trade fair held that same year in Berlin. To date, it has 42 member bays in 20 countries, each representing a local authority with a seafront on an outstanding bay of the world’s coastline.

La Ciotat joined the association in 2019. The town had submitted its application, highlighting the main assets of the Golfe d’Amour.

But what exactly is a bay?

This is the name given to an indentation in the land that makes up a coastline. Generally, it forms an arc of a circle, but sometimes it can form an almost complete circle!
