For years, the group l'Escolo de la Ribo has been bringing the Midsummer fires to life.

Once again this year, we're celebrating the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, with bonfires between 21 and 22 June. This is the day when we celebrate light and the arrival of summer.
It's also a new cycle for nature, a story, a life, a passion, a flame.

St John's Day has always taken place on the night of 23 to 24 June, and is also the birth of St John the Baptist. By organising huge bonfires, the ancients collected the ashes to protect their crops from lightning and storms. But also for lovers, by jumping the fire, it guaranteed their love for a whole year.
At the very roots of our traditions, Midsummer's Day is a time for all of us to get together.
This year, a delegation from Targaïre Ciotadens will bring the flame from Mont Canigou to Arles.
To the sound of galoubets and tambourines, maintainers from Provence and elsewhere liven up the traditional festivities that bring young and old together in crazy farandoles.
The parade will take place on the Place de l'Escalet at 9pm, before the start of the show. The fire will be lit and all the little bundles from the town's various associations will be welcomed.
