This exhibition brings together contrasting oil paintings by the artist Chimaira. A surrealist universe that invites reflection and interpretation.
Originally from Belgium and now based in France, Chimaira has been developing her personal work for over twenty years, fuelled by her passion for drawing, painting and decoration. Self-taught, she is unveiling a collection of previously unseen paintings to the public for the first time.
Created in oil, her works are distinguished by the juxtaposition of pure, contrasting colours and deliberately refined, almost minimalist subjects. This apparent simplicity gives rise to surreal scenes that question certain dysfunctions in our contemporary societies.
Influenced by the metaphysical purity of Giorgio de Chirico, the dreamlike imagination of Salvador Dalí and the colourful intensity of Vincent van Gogh's Fauvism, Chimaira offers figurative painting imbued with mystery. Each canvas invites the visitor to explore their senses, giving free rein to interpretation and emotion.
