The abolition of slavery in 1848 did not erase the traces of the past or the persistent inequalities, despite attempts to forget and deny them.
By highlighting the continuities over the centuries between forms of slavery – particularly in Provence and La Ciotat, in the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean – we can affirm that the power of memory can break the weight of the chains.
Through a slideshow and selected musical excerpts, the speaker Hervé Deroeux tackles this extremely serious subject with subtlety, using sound and images.
All proceeds will be donated in full to the Red Cross in La Ciotat.
