Micro-Folie La Ciotat

Museum, Fine Arts, Arts and culture in La Ciotat
  • The town of La Ciotat won the latest call for projects from Paris la Villette to host a Micro-Folie.

  • A digital museum in the heart of a historic monument: the Chapelle Sainte-Anne.

    What is a Micro-Folie?

Inspired by the emblematic Folies du parc de la Villette, metal sculptures brightening up the park with their bright red garb created by architect Bernard Tschumi (we'll call them Tschumi red), the Micro-Folie is an innovative scheme, supported by the Ministry of Culture and coordinated by la Villette since 2017.

A cultural, inter-generational, friendly and free place to live, a veritable digital art gallery, the Micro-Folie enables visitors to discover, right next door, the treasures of the greatest national institutions and all the partner institutions digitised in very high definition.

By making art history and exhibitions accessible, the Micro-Folie is a springboard to heritage and a gateway to museums.

A digital museum and virtual reality space

La Ciotat's Micro-Folie is built around its digital museum. Created thanks to the participation of 12 founding national institutions, the digital museum is enriched each year by 3 to 4 new collections, each comprising an average of 250 to 400 masterpieces. Currently boasting 12 collections and no fewer than 3,000 works, the museum is available in several languages and is very easy to access, making it an ideal first stop before visiting neighbouring institutions.

To complete the cultural offering of the digital museum, the Micro-Folie in La Ciotat also has a virtual reality area offering a selection of 360° immersive content: documentaries, shows, etc.

    Three ways to visit

    Collection mode

In collection mode, the digital museum is freely accessible to all. Everyone can follow their own browsing path, between the screen and their tablet, reading the labels designed by the museum curators, discovering the secrets of the paintings, playing games...

    Speaker mode

Lecturer mode allows you to organise themed and programmed tours for groups. A genuine tool for artistic and cultural education, the digital museum becomes an incredible medium for teachers, activity leaders and mediators.

    Selection mode

The selection mode brings Micro-Folies mediation activities to life by offering free access to lists of works that you can put together yourself.

Micro-Folie mediators can put together a selection of works in line with a chosen theme, and welcome groups for personalised mediation at pre-booked times.

    Free admission.
    Groups must make a reservation.
