Exhibition of paintings Breath and matter

The La Ciotat Tourist Office is delighted to invite you to an exhibition entitled ‘Souffle et matière’ by Sylvie GAUSSEN, which runs from 10 to 13 June.
A vibrant exhibition in which oil painting expresses emotions and rich textures. An invitation to explore the dance of colours and creative freedom, a reflection of the artist's soul.
Visitors will be able to discover works over the three days, with a variety of opening times to suit your schedule.
The exhibition will be open from 09:30 to 12:30 in the morning, and from 14:00 to 18:00 in the afternoon.
We hope to welcome many of you on these days to share her passion and creativity with you.

I'm lucky enough to have several ancestors who were painters and watercolourists. So I grew up surrounded by their free vision of the world. When, at over thirty, I wanted to express my emotions in paint, I thought that thanks to my venerable ancestors, it would be easy... alas, I had to work, and work some more (and more...).
It all started with oil.
20 years later, this medium remains my favourite, because the mixtures it allows are magical.

Painting in oil is a bit like dancing on canvas. The texture allows us to create figures that I don't think would be possible with any other medium. Each dance is unique and will never be repeated. That's my artistic approach.
Fantasy sometimes leads me to scratch, rub, add ‘my grain of salt’ or anything else.
Although the colour palette is often identical at the outset, the result will never be the same. There may be many dilutions, with several glazes, or on the contrary, a very present material, alla prima. The moment will decide.
However, however much freedom I allow myself, I remain adamant on one point: a canvas that does not satisfy me will not leave the studio.
