The La Ciotat Tourist Office is hosting an exhibition of paintings and ceramics entitled ‘Artists’ Reveries’, bringing together the artistic worlds of Chantal Buissart and RAKU (Pascale Auberger Casini)
From 24 to 29 April, La Ciotat Tourist Office presents *Rêveries d’artistes*, an exhibition bringing together the works of Chantal Buissart and RAKU (Pascale Auberger Casini)
This artistic collaboration invites the public on a poetic journey through a world of colours, shapes and emotions.
Colour plays an essential, almost vital role here. Present in nature as well as in the human imagination, it can be pure or nuanced, luminous or deep, vivid or delicately muted. The artists have chosen to use it to express their perceptions of the world in a sensitive way. Inspired by the natural elements, they explore the richness of the tones that inhabit our daily lives: those of landscapes, Mediterranean light and the intimate memories that colour can evoke.
The works on display bear witness to a creative process in which the material engages in a dialogue with emotion. Painting, through gesture, transparency or the vibration of pigments, reveals worlds imbued with gentleness, strength or mystery. Ceramics, for its part, gives colour another dimension: that of volume, touch and the physical presence of the artistic object. Each piece thus becomes a fragment of history, a space for reverie where the imagination can take flight.
Chantal BUISSART:
With a passion for painting, colour and drawing, Chantal BUISSART spends hours in her studio exploring, experimenting with and mastering a wide variety of artistic techniques and styles. Through her latest works, she presents a palette of vibrant colours that truly reflect life, inviting the viewer on a sensory and emotional journey. Her practice unfolds across several series of paintings, each exploring a theme close to her heart. Whether it is the tranquillity of seascapes, she strives to capture the delicate nuances and unique atmospheres that emanate from her subjects. Through her work, she aspires to captivate the gaze of those who contemplate her pieces, offering an aesthetic experience imbued with positivity and wonder.
RAKU (Pascale AUBERGER-CASINI):
Based in La Ciotat, her hometown, Pascale AUBERGER-CASINI creates unique pieces using the traditional Japanese Raku technique. A nurse by training, she has discovered in clay a realm of imagination, emotion and freedom.
Her work is imbued with poetry and lightness, each sculpture carrying within it a deep connection to the elements. Thanks to rapid firing and the use of metal oxides, her glazes reveal vibrant, iridescent surfaces, shaped by fire and smoke.
Each unique piece is a singular expression, born of the union of earth, fire and water — a true alchemy between nature and the soul.
