Concert du groupe corse Meridianu_La Ciotat

Concert by the Corsican band Meridianu

Cultural, Concert, Polyphonic songs in La Ciotat
  • It was in the Balagne region of the interior, where centuries-old olive trees thrive, that the Meridianu group was born.

  • Like the roots of the tree of peace, it is from this land steeped in history that Meridianu draws the inspiration and strength expressed in its songs.

For the group, cultural heritage is the foundation on which the present is built and from which the future is forged.

Like the roots of the tree of peace, it is from this land steeped in history that Meridianu draws the inspiration and strength expressed in its songs.

For the group, cultural heritage is the foundation on which the present is built and from which the future is forged.

This is evident every day in their songs, and Meridianu has chosen to draw on a rich heritage that has been largely saved from oblivion thanks to the research and recording work carried out by F. Quilici and F. Flori, among others.

Meridianu is now striving to continue this mission by going into villages to search for the last songs that can still be found today. However, this does not mean taking refuge in a backward-looking attitude. Indeed, while a significant effort is made to restore the authenticity of the songs of Corsica of yesteryear, it is naturally from a solid foundation that the group sings about the experiences of the present day.

The repertoire, rich in numerous creations, is also distinguished by the diversity of the themes addressed and a desire to be open to the world, as suggested by the name Meridianu.

Living one's own culture intensely, sharing it by reaching out to others, exchanging ideas to appreciate what brings us together but also perceiving differences as enriching.

These are the values that the group has chosen to uphold and offer to the public.

With Jean Antoine Orticoni, Joseph Gras and Marc De Lanfranchi, featuring the Chœurs au Diapason choir.

Programme: Corsican polyphony. Traditional Corsican secular and sacred songs. Original compositions.
