For some thirty years and over 1,500 concerts, André Charlier (drums) and Benoît Sourisse (piano, Hammond organ) have been nurturing a musical and personal relationship of exceptional quality and longevity.
The Charlier/Sourisse duo, a fixture on the French jazz scene, have collaborated on their many albums with Didier Lockwood, Bireli Lagrene, Philip Catherine, Jerry Bergonzi, Kenny Garrett, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Alex Sipiagin, Perico Sambeat, Bendik Hofseth, Tierney Sutton… In 2017, they formed their Multiquarium Big Band (two albums, the latest of which, *Remembering Jaco*, released in 2020, received unanimous acclaim from the international press.
At the same time, Louis Winsberg has developed his own projects: in 1985 with Sixun (10 albums), in 1989 with Appassionato, in 1993 with Camino, in 1997 with La Danse du Vent, his trio Douce France in 2007, and Marseille Marseille in 2008. And from 2000 onwards: Jaleo, a multicultural project with which he recorded two albums.
The three musicians reunited in 2015 to form the Charlier/Sourisse/Winsberg trio.
Le Monde à l’envers
A double album like no other... On one side, 10 original compositions performed by a guitar/organ/drums trio. Through harmonic dialogues and rhythmic interplay, Louis Winsberg, Benoit Sourisse and André Charlier continually affirm and refine the warm sound that defines them, at once wild and refined…
On the other, the same 10 compositions, this time arranged for an acoustic band (vocals, woodwinds, guitar, piano, double bass, drums) featuring top-class guests such as Stéphane Guillaume (saxophones, clarinets, flutes), Malou Oheix (vocals) and Jean-Michel Charbonnel (double bass). In a lovely aesthetic touch, the trio’s tracks 1 to 10 effectively mirror the expanded group’s tracks 10 to 1.
