Colour is life! As essential to life as water or fire, colour can have many different aspects: Pure Screaming Shimmering Fluorescent Bright Luminous Transparent Nuanced Decoloured Lacquered Gradient Shiny Pastel Neutral Clear Dark Passed Matt Satin Faded So we decided to extract colours from nature. They were crushed or encased in small tubes so that artists could bring them to life on canvas, paper or clay... The names on the tubes of ‘fine colours’ or on the pastels make you dream: Burnt umber, Mars yellow, Venetian red, Bengal rose, Crimson madder lake, Prussian blue, Veronese green, Alizarin carmine, Mineral violet... And then, colours have even coloured our language and our expressions: ‘At night all cats are grey’, “He makes me see all sorts of colours”, “I see life in pink”, “I wear red at the bank”, “Yellow laughter”... The four artists in this exhibition have chosen to use colour to express their emotions. So now that the colours have been announced, let yourself be charmed by their artistic worlds!

Casini says it's the clay that guides her hands as she sculpts pieces inspired by an imaginary world that resembles her own. The ‘raku’ firing process gives her pieces the final touch. This phase is magical. Smoking and oxygen reduction produce unique colours with a metallic sheen that is revealed by the water. The crackled and fissured appearance is due to thermal shock, a guarantee of character. Earth, fire, air and water are the four essential elements for creating these pieces. Colours ‘Colour as Evidence .... Colour is at the heart of every creation, capturing the eye and awakening the emotions. Thanks to the raku technique and metal oxides, colour is intense, profound and unpredictable. This exhibition celebrates colour as a unique signature, giving life and character to each piece.’

Patricia Bachelard is a pianist and concert artist, with a passion for art and a parallel interest in the École des Beaux-Arts. Practising various painting techniques, she favours the sensuality of pastel. Her essentially figurative artistic universe attempts to create a symbiosis between music and painting. Colours ‘Colours have a profound impact on our moods and emotions. They provoke positive reactions such as happiness and joy. Let's make the most of our beautiful pigments!

A child of La Ciotat, Agnès Rudondy began painting in the mid-80s in Chartres. From the outset, she exhibited her work in a number of venues and galleries in the south of France. Using acrylics, oil pastels and ink, her work explores the infinite possibilities of a colourful and joyful world. For several years now, the inhabitants of La Ciotat have been able to regularly admire her work in galleries and exhibition venues in and around the town. Couleurs ‘ See life in colour! From black and white to light! It's a bit like the painter's hope to train the eye to look at life with happiness.’

Sandrine Sorbier (SANE) is a passionate artist whose artistic career has developed gradually over the years. She began by taking drawing classes at the Beaux-Arts in Toulon, where she honed her skills and developed her unique style. During this period, she also took part in a number of watercolour courses, which enabled her to master this delicate technique and integrate it into her artistic repertoire. Thanks to various experiences in drawing, watercolour and acrylic, Sandrine Sorbier continues to develop her art, always looking for new ways to capture beauty and emotion on canvas Colours ‘Colours are not just visual, they are felt. Each hue carries a unique vibration that can touch the viewer. This exhibition is an invitation to feel colours beyond their appearance. Each viewer is encouraged to let the vibrations of the works resonate with their own emotions. I want everyone to be able to discover, through colours, a part of their own sensitivity.’

Sirènes, an association under the law of 1901, has been bringing together and federating painters, sculptors, draughtsmen, photographers, engravers, ceramists and arts and craftspeople from La Ciotat and the surrounding area since 2017. Sirènes is committed to ensuring that art reaches out to the public and is accessible to all, whether at school or in the workplace, in the street or in dedicated venues. Sirènes organises events and activities to enable artists from the association and other artists from La Ciotat and elsewhere to exhibit their work.

Since September 2021, Sirènes and the La Ciotat Tourist Office have formed a partnership to promote artists from La Ciotat and the surrounding area. There will be four events during the year, each time showcasing four artists on the premises of the Tourist Office.
