  • The beautiful stone façade of the chapel with its characteristic Counter-Reformation pediment can be seen from the completely renovated Place Esquiros.

  • The chapel was built from 1630 for the brotherhood of the Penitents Noirs. But this chapel was too grandiose for the small community and the confreres had to go into debt to continue the building which was finally completed in 1656.
    Seized as a national asset during the Revolution, it was sold in September 1791.
    It was converted into a prison during the Federalist period and then passed through various hands before being bought by the Curé Brunet who installed the confraternity of...
