Insolent Inspirations exhibition

Artists of all ages, techniques and backgrounds have been invited to revisit the works in the museum's permanent collections, in a bid to bridge the gap between heritage and contemporary creation, Provençal tradition and modernity.

The Ciotaden museum is once again opening its doors wide to people of all ages and backgrounds, with this original and exclusive free exhibition.
A call for projects was launched, which was enough to interest a dozen artists, then 20, then 30...

Over the course of preparatory meetings, the pool of artists was built up and, without any advertising, was quickly sold out. The new generation of artists, represented by 7 students from the Visual Arts option at the Lycée Lumière, produced some extraordinarily original works.
Strengthening the links between past and present, young and old, enabling visitors to discover or rediscover the permanent collections through the prism of contemporary artists, broadening the range of visitors and showcasing new talent - this is the spirit in which the Insolent Inspirations exhibition was conceived.

It's a visual telescoping that's amusing, disturbing and even cheeky, waking up the beautiful sleeping works... A challenge for the future that underlines the message of transition between the in situ heritage of the permanent collections and the whole range of contemporary artistic media, which the Friends of Old La Ciotat wish to pass on to all generations.

These unusual works will be on display at the Musée Ciotaden, mainly in the temporary exhibition room but also scattered throughout the permanent collections, juxtaposed with the inspiring original works.
